To display specific headings in pages in Header

Word 2010 and its previous versions support to customize header & footer content. Mostly header and footer are used to display the book title, author and other types of text which briefly explains the document. If you want to display the required heading of each page in header you can use Fields option from Word. Below steps are used to add required heading from the page:

1. On Insert tab click Header and click Edit Header option.
2. On Insert tab click Quick Parts.
3. Click Fields option. (Field dialog box displays)

4. Scroll down Field names and click StyleRef option.
5. From Style name click required style (Heading 1).
6. Click Ok.

Now look at the header it displays the heading 1 from the page and it varies based on the heading 1 created for each page.

Note:
If the page does not have Heading 1 then the previous page heading displays until the next heading 1 comes.
